Drum carders area a fantastic  tool for the handspinner or feltmaker. Note only do they allow efficient processing of raw fleece into smooth batts, they allow unlimited possibilities in terms of blending fibres and colours. If you have ever looked longingly at a batt or braid but wished the fibre composition or colours used were slightly different, then a drum carder is for you!

Louet drum carders

Louet drum carders are well designed and efficient, so your carding time can be productive, adjustment free and enjoyable. The non-slipping gears are enclosed in a gearbox and reqire no additional lubrication or adjstment. The sides of the gearbox also serve to keep the fibres on the carder, away from the shafts and the sides. All Louet drum carders are made from laminated birch with a hard white coating.  In order to ensure a long life, the teeth on Louet drum carders are made from nickel plated steel wire. The intermeshing of the teeth ensures that the fibres are combed efficiently, while their flexibility allows them to bend out of the way and put  gentle pressure on the fibres.  All Louet drum carders come with a doffer brush, doffing needle, 2 clamps and an instruction manual written by well known author and fibre artist Deb Menz.
